남들보다 뒤늦게 열정을 가지고 음악을 시작한 류상현 지휘자는 합창지휘, 오케스트라 지휘를 공부하였다. 그래서인지 그는 틀에 매여 있는 음악보다는 살아 숨 쉬는 본래의 음악적 감성을 찾아 청중들과 호흡하기를 원한다.

중세의 음악부터 현대에 이르기까지 다양한 프로그램을 청소년오케스트라 뿐 아니라 외국의 오케스트라까지 객원 지휘하였고 매년 국내 및 국제 무대의 다양한 대회에 연주단체를 이끌고 출전하여 우수한 성적으로 다수의 수상을 하는 등 그 실력을 검증 받고 있다.

또한 미래의 음악인재를 발굴육성하는데 앞장서고 있으며 어린이재단, 백혈병소아암협회를 비롯한 지역의 아동복지단체에 음악적 재능기부와 다양한 공연기획을 통해 지역사회의 순수음악의 대중화에 앞장서고 있으며 참신한 무대를 통해 많은 사랑을 받고 있다.
현재, 천안시청소년교향악단, 노바아르티 챔버오케스트라, 희망나래합창단, 삼진하모닉스 남성합창단을 지휘하고 있으며 (사)한국생활음악협의회 상임부회장, 한국청소년오케스트라연합회 회장, 천안청소년쉼터 운영위원장, 월간 리뷰의 편집위원 및 음악평론가로 활동하고 있다.
현재, 천안시청소년교향악단, 노바아르티 챔버오케스트라, 희망나래합창단, 삼진하모닉스 남성합창단을 지휘하고 있으며 (사)한국생활음악협의회 상임부회장, 한국청소년오케스트라연합회 회장, 천안청소년쉼터 운영위원장, 월간 리뷰의 편집위원 및 음악평론가로 활동하고 있다.

Even though Sang-hyun Ryu has studied music a bit later, he has more passionate to conduct an orchestra and choir than others.
Because of it, he prefers to fine the musical sensibility and to work in harmony with the audience rather than staying in a stereotypical music.
He conducted various genre of music from the Middle Age to Modern Music as a youth orchestra conductor. Furthermore, he actively worked on foreign orchestras as a guest conductor with positive mind.
He participated in diverse domestic and international competition with his performance group, so he verified his musical talent by receiving multiple awards with honors.
Moreover, he has taken the lead to discover and foster young musician. He has donated his musical talent to Child Fund Korea, Korean Association for Child with Leukemia and Cancer(KACLC), other regional charity and led the popularizing of pure music to the community by performing various shows which are loved by people.
Currently, he is conducting at Cheon-An Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, NOVA ARTi Chamber Orchestra and Hope Wings Women Choir, and Samjin Harmonic Men's Choir.
Beside of this, he is actively working at Korean Life Music Association as a vice president, Korean Youth Orchestra Association as a president, and Monthly Review as an edition and music critic.
